BCA Gallery proudly presents ‘Darkness to Light’, a new exhibition by Loretta Reynolds. [See our report on the exhibition open below]

The artist explains; ‘In this exploratory work I have attempted to encapsulate my contemporary translation of traditional Cook Islands iconography behind formed acrylic panels.
These works suggest the analogy of visual culture frozen and imprisoned by contemporary theology. By backlighting the art form I am exploring the perception of the light releasing the inner spirit and energy of traditional Cook Islands art from the darkness of obscurity and abandonment, a rebirth of translation and thinking, from darkness to light.’

The exhibition contains 10, 720mm x 410mm x 5mm, heat formed acrylic panels with composite mounting panels & rechargeable battery powered LED lighting.

The BCA gallery space was a very special place, with the glowing artistry of Loretta’s work illuminating the room, and our minds.
